Controversial WWE Legend In Talks For Surprise return
A controversial WWE figure could soon be back on television.
On December 14th, WWE will hold the first edition of Saturday Night’s Main Event since August 2008. The special was originally launched back in 1985 and ran until late 1992 before being brought back in 2006.
At the event, Cody Rhodes will put his Undisputed WWE Title on the line against Kevin Owens, while Gunther will defend the World Heavyweight Title against Finn Balor. The company will also crown the first Women’s United States Champion, and Liv Morgan will put the Women’s Title on the line against Iyo Sky.
It’s also been reported that Jesse Ventura and Jimmy Hart will both appear on the show. But they might not be the only surprises to make an appearance.
As noted on WrestleVotes Radio via SportsKeeda’s Backstage Pass Patreon, there’s been talk of Hulk Hogan featuring on the special.
“We are also hearing that a source has confirmed to us that WWE has had initial discussions about bringing in specific legends to Saturday Night’s Main Event that will pay homage to the first ever Saturday Night’s Main Event episode, which took place in the same exact arena they will be at next Saturday night on Long Island close to 40 years ago.
That first show took place on May 10, 1985. Specifically, we are hearing those names could include former WWF Women’s Champion Wendy Richter, who defeated the Fabulous Moolah that night, along with bringing in the two participants from the WWF Championship match that evening, which saw the immortal Hulk Hogan defeat Cowboy Bob Orton.
It’s worth noting that Jimmy Hart is already booked for this show, as was reported elsewhere, which could indeed signal that the Hulkster isn’t that far behind. We are hearing that WWE has discussed calling in specific legends, not just the same old [names].”
Hulk Hogan Remains Under WWE Contract
During an interview back in September, Hulk Hogan revealed he’d signed a new five-year contract with WWE. The comments surprised many as Hogan had been met with split reactions during many of his most recent appearances.
The veteran later dismissed speculation that his new contract was a Legends deal, claiming it’s “much more than that.” Since signing the contract, Hogan has repeatedly stated that he’d be open to making an on-screen return.
