Controversial Ending Determines LA Knight’s Next WWE US Title Opponent
A number one contender’s match took place for LA Knight’s US Title and it ended controversially.
The new WWE United States Champion LA Knight appeared backstage on SmackDown in Bologna, Italy to inform Braun Strowman that his match with Jacob Fatu later in the show would be for a shot at the US Title.
Considering Strowman and Fatu have had issues for several weeks, it was only fitting that they would be in a match where the winner would earn a title shot at Knight’s US Title.
Former WWE Universal Champion Strowman was in control of Fatu with a spinebuster. That’s when Tama Tonga showed up on the apron, so Strowman fought with him and brought him into the ring. Solo Sikoa was there and he hit Strowman with a Samoan Spike for the DQ because the referee was right there to see it.
After the match, Fatu looked at Solo wondering what he was doing. Solo tried to explain. The trio of Solo, Fatu and Tama beat up Strowman. That’s when the US Champion LA Knight made the save, by clearing Tama out of the ring and Knight knocked Solo out of the ring. Knight hit Fatu with a clothesline.
It was announced that the winner of the match by disqualification was Braun Strowman. That meant that the US Title match next week on Smackdown is between the champion Knight and challenger Strowman. Knight and Strowman exchanged words.
There was also a backstage segment that showed a frustrated Fatu getting mad at Sikoa for interfering in the match.
