Update On Ex-World Champion’s Contract Status After Shocking WWE Return
2-time World Heavyweight Champion Dolph Ziggler returned to WWE on this week’s edition of RAW.
Ziggler was released from the Stamford-based promotion in September 2023, ending his 19-year tenure with the company. This past Monday on RAW, he made a surprise return as Solo Sikoa’s mystery opponent in John Cena’s Last Time Is Now Tournament.
Following his appearance on the red brand, fans have been buzzing about whether his return was a one-time appearance or if Triple H has plans to feature him more in the future.
Ex-WWE Star Dolph Ziggler Is Still Under TNA Contract
Well, it turns out that Ziggler’s return on RAW was just a one-time thing. Speaking on the Busted Open podcast, Tommy Dreamer commented on The Show Off’s RAW return. He was excited to see him back in WWE, but highlighted that the 45-year-old star is still contracted to TNA.
“Tonight’s match, there were two moments where I was like, ‘Man, he’s advancing in this tournament.’ He was great. I thought it helped all parties. Nic, I was not there. So I did not hear his ovation after he lost. But I’m sure the people would give him a nice standing ovation, clapping for him and chanting his name. Solo continued to move forward. Though you did not hear that he works with TNA Wrestling, but yes, Dolph Ziggler is under contract with TNA Wrestling.”
Another star from the TNA roster, Matt Cardona, aka Zack Ryder, also made his return to the Stamford-based promotion on Friday Night SmackDown. He was revealed to be LA Knight’s surprise opponent in the John Cena tournament.
Fighful Select recently reported that Ziggler and Ryder’s return to WWE was also meant for only one night, as neither of them has signed a contract with WWE.
Much like with Matt Cardona/Zack Ryder the week prior, WWE sources indicated to Fightful that Ziggler is not signed to a WWE contract.
