Conrad Thompson is bringing the wrestling world together in support of Steve ‘Mongo’ McMichael with a benefit event hosted by AdFreeShows.

Former WCW star and NFL sensation Steve ‘Mongo’ McMichael’s health has suffered in recent years as it emerged that the former Chicago Bear is battling ALS (amyotrophic lateral sclerosis).

In support of his ongoing care, AdFreeShows are hosting a fundraising event for McMichael and his wife Misty on Saturday, the 3rd of September. The event will be free-to-air on FITE TV and kicks off at 12.30 pm CST. 100% of the money raised from the event will go directly to the McMichaels as they navigate this difficult time.

Taking to social media, Conrad Thompson – the brains behind AdFreeShows – announced the event that will feature the likes of Ric Flair, Jim Ross, and Tony Schiavone:

“Show your support for #TeamMongo! As Steve and Misty continue their battle against ALS, join us this Saturday for an all-star benefit show to help raise money for the McMichael family. For more info and to donate, visit MoneyForMongo.com

Following the end of his football career, which saw him win the 1985 Super Bowl with the Chicago Bears, McMichael found himself firmly entrenched in the world of pro wrestling as part of WCW.

McMichael’s stint in the company began on commentary but he soon found himself in the thick of the action, joining The Four Horsemen and competing in the ring. Mongo McMichael’s only title success in WCW came in 1997 when he defeated Jeff Jarrett for the WCW United States Championship.
