AEW star Will Ospreay announced his grandfather’s passing with an emotional message on social media.

On June 18, the 32-year-old AEW star competed in a 10-man tag team match at AEW Grand Slam Mexico, where Shane Strickland pinned him to pick up the victory for his team.

Ospreay later took to X to announce that he had received the heartbreaking news of his grandfather’s passing upon landing in Mexico. He disclosed that he was very close to his grandfather, whom he considered a hero.

Meanwhile, the former AEW International Champion sent a message to the fans, stating that their love and support eased his pain.

Personal note. I landed in Mexico this morning at 3am. Once landed I had a phone call from my mum telling me my grandad had passed that morning. Extremely close to my Grandad, he was a bloody hero to me. Your love & support eased my pain, Thank you so much

Will Ospreay recently proposed to fellow AEW star

Will Ospreay recently announced his engagement to longtime partner Alex Windsor, who had just signed with Tony Khan’s promotion.

The 32-year-old took to social media to announce the happy news, sharing a photo of them holding hands with Windsor displaying her engagement ring.

“She said Yes,” Ospreay captioned the photo.

Windsor has been a well-known name on the UK independent circuit for nearly a decade and a half. She had also competed a few times in AEW before officially signing with the promotion.
