Cody Rhodes WWE WrestleMania Match Could Face Major Change
Cody Rhodes is set for a blockbuster WWE Title match at WrestleMania but it seems some people in the company want to see a huge change made.
Cody Rhodes retained his Undisputed WWE Championship in a brutal ladder match against Kevin Owens at the Royal Rumble. Jey Uso shocked the world when he won the Royal Rumble meaning that he had his pick of world champions to face at WrestleMania.
Jey Uso called his shot by picking Gunther to challenge for the World Heavyweight Championship leaving Cody Rhodes at a loose end. However, Rhodes will face whoever wins the Elimination Chamber on March 1 but behind the scenes, it seems Rhodes’ opponent for WrestleMania 41 has been known for some time.
Cody Rhodes vs. John Cena vs. CM Punk?
Cody Rhodes is widely expected to face John Cena in Las Vegas with Cena looking to win the 17th world title in his final year as a WWE star. But could someone else be added to that match?
WrestleVotes reported on the Backstage Pass Q&A that there were some backstage in WWE pushing for CM Punk to be added to that match:
I don’t know if it’s been discussed in an official capacity, but I do know there are people there that would rather that match (Rhodes vs. Cena vs. Punk) than Reigns vs. Punk vs. Rollins if that matters at all. I don’t know, but I do know that there are some people who would prefer that.
CM Punk is currently set to be part of a triple threat match with Seth Rollins and Roman Reigns, but nothing is official until it is announced by WWE so changes could still take place.
