Cody Rhodes Claims WWE Title Win Is For The People

Cody Rhodes WWE Champion

Cody Rhodes has taken the WWE Championship from Roman Reigns and he might just have taken the title of People’s Champion from The Rock as well.

Cody Rhodes finished his story at WrestleMania 40 as he finally ended the historic title reign of Roman Reigns. The main event was a wild one that saw interference from Jimmy Uso, Jey Uso, Solo Sikoa, John Cena, The Rock, Seth Rollins, and even The Undertaker as Rhodes’ amassed forces outgunned those of The Bloodline to finally hand Reigns a decisive defeat.

Speaking at the post-WrestleMania press conference, Cody Rhodes discussed the celebrations after the match and said his win is for the people:

I think it was just the joy. There is respect for Roman and The Bloodline, no doubt, but nothing is bigger than the company and industry itself. This was a win for the people and certainly, a win for me.

Cody Rhodes vs. The Rock In WWE’s Future?

Cody Rhodes’ words might have stung the ears of The Rock who has long called himself the People’s Champ. So much so, that during the WWE Hall of Fame, The Rock was awarded a People’s Champ title belt from Muhammad Ali’s widow Lonnie. Ali had called himself by the nickname during his boxing heyday and she recognised The Rock for following in his footsteps.

The Rock carried that title belt to the ring for his match on night one of WrestleMania 40 that saw him pin Cody Rhodes in a huge tag team match.
