Cody Rhodes has shared an interesting about how a friend on the WWE roster talked him out of getting a tattoo going into one of the biggest matches of his career.

During his first run in WWE from 2006 to 2016, Cody Rhodes was part of a very successful group called Legacy from 2008 until it fell apart in early 2010. The group was led by Randy Orton, who was a main event level heel, and also featured Cody and Ted Dibiase Jr. along with others that had some briefs run in the group.

The concept of Legacy was that it was a group of second and/or third-generation wrestlers that were carrying on the legacy of their families. Randy Orton was following in the footsteps of his WWE Hall of Fame father Bob Orton Jr. and grandfather Bob Orton Sr., Cody Rhodes was following the legendary WWE Hall of Famer Dusty Rhodes and Ted Dibiase Jr. is the son of Ted Dibiase, who was well known as the WWE Hall of Famer the “Million Dollar Man.”

While Legacy had a lot of success as a group in helping Orton win the WWE Championship while Rhodes and Dibiase were Tag Team Champions, they also fell apart like most wrestling groups tend to do.

At WrestleMania 26 in 2010, Randy Orton faced Ted Dibiase and Cody Rhodes in a triple threat match. They only got about nine minutes for the match with Orton hitting an RKO on Dibiase for the win.

During an interview on My Mom’s Basement podcast, Cody Rhodes revealed that he nearly got a Legacy tattoo on his hand going into the match, but he was talked out of it.

“I almost got a tattoo on my hand of the Legacy logo before the match. I want to say, and I hope I’m giving credit to the right guy, Kofi Kingston was the one who told me absolutely not to do that.”

“Like, yeah, Legacy was cool. Yes, I was excited about having this first real WrestleMania, but it’s not that place on the card that you need this tattoo. I thought, okay. I also liked the L. I thought it was a pretty cool logo, but I didn’t get the tattoo, so Kofi was right.”

As for his next WrestleMania match, Cody Rhodes will go into it with a giant American Nightmare tattoo on the right side of his neck. Cody and his tattoo will face Roman Reigns for the Undisputed WWE Universal Championship at WrestleMania 39 just as long as Roman keeps that title coming out of Elimination Chamber this Saturday night.
