Cody Rhodes To Headline WWE Saturday Night’s Main Event
Cody Rhodes is heading for a grudge match.
Kevin Owens has been on the warpath since attacking Cody Rhodes in the parking lot following Bad Blood, but things have now escalated to a whole new level.
At Crown Jewel, Owens was meant to face Randy Orton after also attacking the veteran, but the match never got started. KO attacked Orton during his entrance, battering him with a chair. The chaos continued on the following episode of SmackDown, where Owens hit Orton with a Piledriver — a move that’s been banned in WWE for the best part of two decades.
Although his issues with Orton have forced Owens’ rivalry with Rhodes to take a relative backseat, they’ll soon meet in the ring.
Cody Rhodes To Face Familiar Rival
Writing in the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, Dave Meltzer noted that Cody Rhodes vs. Kevin Owens will headline Saturday Night’s Main Event. There’s no word on whether Rhodes’ Undisputed WWE Championship will be on the line.
We’ve been told the Cody Rhodes vs. Kevin Owens match is slated as the main event for Saturday Night’s Main Event on 12/14 from the Nassau Coliseum, so at least as of earlier this week wasn’t slated on this show.
There had been suggestions Gunther vs. Damian Priest for the World Heavyweight Title would also be on the show, but that bout has since been confirmed for Survivor Series.
Saturday Night’s Main Event launched in 1985 before being retired in 1993. It returned in 2006, but amid falling ratings and interest, was scrapped again in 2008.
