What Did Cody Rhodes Say To WWE Fans After SmackDown?
Cody Rhodes was back on WWE SmackDown after missing more than a month, and he delivered a message to the fans after the show.
The last time Cody Rhodes appeared on WWE SmackDown was the post-SummerSlam edition on August 8th, when he teamed up with John Cena against Logan Paul & Drew McIntyre.
That night didn’t go well for Rhodes because after the match, which ended as a DQ, McIntyre attacked Rhodes and gave him a Claymore Kick that sent Rhodes crashing through the bottom of the commentary table. It was a loud noise as Rhodes lay there while McIntyre taunted him.
It was an injury to write out Cody Rhodes for over a month because he was filming the Street Fighter movie, in which Rhodes has the role of Guile. Cody and his wife Brandi also welcomed the birth of their daughter Leilani in late August as well.
At WWE SmackDown in Norfolk, VA, Cody Rhodes made his return after Drew McIntyre beat Randy Orton with a Claymore Kick in the main event. McIntyre teased kicking Orton’s head through the bottom of the commentary like he did to Orton, but that’s when Cody’s music hit, and he went to the ringside for the save while also getting revenge on McIntyre. Cody ran into the ring, punched Drew a few times, and hit a Cody Cutter off the ropes. Drew left the ring.
Cody did a quick promo: “Drew McIntyre, the champ is back! We can do this dance, I’ll see you, my friend…at Wrestlepalooza!” That’s when SmackDown went off the air.
Cody Rhodes Mentions Movie And New Baby After WWE SmackDown
In a video posted on his X/Twitter, Cody Rhodes was shown addressing the crowd after SmackDown. There were loud “Cody” chants for the American Nightmare.
“Thank you guys so much. There’s more action tonight, but before that happens, I just want to tell you it’s been a hell of a month for me. I had a new baby girl Leilani, I got cast as Guile in Street Fighter and tonight I got to come back home. Thank you guys very, very, very much.”
Cody kissed the mat with the WWE logo on it and posed for the fans while they sang along with his “Kingdom” theme song.
