Cody Rhodes Feels WWE Departure Will Be Linked To Him
Cody Rhodes thinks that a key member of the WWE team leaving the company will be linked to him forever.
The biggest moment of Cody Rhodes’ pro wrestling career occurred at WrestleMania 40 when he defeated Roman Reigns to become the Undisputed WWE Champion.
After Cody won the title, there was a big celebration in the ring featuring his friends, family, and loved ones There was also an emotional moment as ring announcer Samantha Irvin was shown looking very emotional as she announced that Cody Rhodes was the new Undisputed WWE Champion.
Samantha Irvin announced earlier this month that she was leaving WWE to focus on other things such as her aspirations in the music business. Samantha also revealed that she didn’t even like ring announcing that much even though she was praised heavily for it.
Even though Irvin worked for WWE for only three years and only about two years on the main roster, she made a big impact. Cody Rhodes was asked about Samantha’s departure and praised her work heavily in an interview with The Schmo.
“She is [in the] top five, maybe top three. Samatha was just killing it.”
As he continued, Cody spoke about how he can still remember how special it was when Samantha announced him as the new WWE Champion.
“I’ve never watched WrestleMania 40 back, but I can hear it still, in terms of her very emotional announcement of winning the WWE Championship. That’s gonna be forever linked to me, so hats off to Samatha. That’s one of my homies. Whatever she does, if you’ve heard her voice, she’s going to kill it.”
Cody Rhodes Has Modeled His Career After John Cena
When Cody Rhodes does interviews, he often talks about how John Cena is one of his mentors in pro wrestling.
“I modeled a lot of my career after the man who was the lead dog when I was here initially, and that being John Cena. Hey, if you want the spot, if you want the ball, you have to work to my level’, was something you’d hear him say in interviews, and it was very real, very, and there was nobody who could match it at the time. In terms of being WWE Champion, you have to represent WWE at all times.”
Up next for Cody Rhodes is a huge match at WWE Crown Jewel when he faces the World Heavyweight Champion Gunther. The winner of this match will win the brand new Crown Jewel Championship.
You can watch WWE Crown Jewel, streaming live on Saturday, November 2, at 1 p.m. ET/ 10 a.m. PT on Peacock in the United States and on WWE Network everywhere else.
