Cody Rhodes Trying To Get WWE Backstage Figure Out Of Retirement

Cody Rhodes

Cody Rhodes wants to see a TNA legend compete in the Royal Rumble.

During a recent interview, TNA legend and former World Champion Abyss confirmed that he’s officially retired.

Speculation had been running wild regarding a comeback after it was revealed that it would be part of the WWE 2K25 Dunk & Destruction DLC pack. The star hasn’t wrestled since 2019, when he joined WWE as a producer.

However, that doesn’t mean people haven’t been trying to get Abyss back in the ring.

Cody Rhodes Wants Abyss In The Royal Rumble

During the latest episode of What Do You Wanna Talk About? Cody Rhodes sat down with Kevin Owens to discuss all things wrestling and KO’s latest injury struggles. During the conversation, Rhodes revealed that he’s been trying to get Abyss to compete in a Royal Rumble for several years.

Rhodes: “One that I’ve been trying for years and it’s just not going to happen, I keep trying to get Abyss into the Royal Rumble,”

Owens: “It came so close one year.”

Rhodes: “I know. Just one,”

Owens: “I think it’s too late. He’s lost too much weight. Putting him in the ring at this point when he walks that way would be illegal. We love Chris.”

During the same podcast, Kevin Owens revealed that he’ll finally undergo neck surgery in mid-July.

The star explained that the reason for the delay is that doctors wanted to see how well his spinal cord healed on its own before eventually going under the knife. Owens said that while he hadn’t previously had any symptoms related to his neck injury, in recent days the pain and nerve problems with his arms and legs have been “brutal.”
