Cody Rhodes Wants Conor McGregor In WWE
Cody Rhodes wants to see Conor McGregor make the crossover to WWE and tips the former UFC Champion for great success if he does.
At one point, Conor McGregor was the biggest thing in combat sports blending his dominant skills in the Octagon with a bombastic personality that made him a box office smash.
UFC fighters making the crossover to WWE is nothing new with the likes of Dan Severn, Ken Shamrock, and Ronda Rousey all making the switch to sports entertainment after successful careers in MMA. Brock Lesnar took up a UFC career following his first spell in WWE, becoming the first man to capture both the WWE and UFC Heavyweight Championships.
But now the current WWE Champion Cody Rhodes wants to see Conor McGregor join those illustrious stars.
Cody Rhodes Sees Success For Conor McGregor In WWE
Speaking to The Schmo, Cody Rhodes named McGregor as the top athlete he’d like to see in WWE and thinks his experience at the top level of MMA would give him a head start:
One I’d love to see dip his toes into the water with WWE would be Conor (McGregor). Just to dip his toes. The competition environment at WWE, the competition is different than what you might think. It’s so much about who has the most dscipline, who is the most professional, getting there to the finish line, getting there to a WrestleMania.
I feel like someone who has competed at the highest level like he has and so many amazing fights, it’s time to maybe dip into the more entertainment side of sports entertainment. I think he’d be great at it, I do.
Conor McGregor has previously been called out for a huge WWE match with another crossover star and former United States Champion.
