When Cody Rhodes Vs. Roman Reigns III May Finally Go Down
Cody Rhodes and Roman Reigns headlined WrestleManias 39 & 40.
At WrestleMania 39, Reigns came out on top after an interference from The Usos. However, at WrestleMania XL, Rhodes finished his story to win his first world title in the promotion.
Paul Heyman recently confirmed during an interview on The Ariel Helwani Show that WWE had pondered the possibility of having a third Rhodes vs. Reigns at WrestleMania 41.
However, John Cena vs. Cody Rhodes was the option they went with.
With Roman Reigns returning to the promotion after a brief hiatus, fans have speculated about the third bout between him and the American Nightmare.
On the latest episode of NotSam Wrestling, host Sam Roberts presented his take on when the match could take place.
I wanna see Roman Reigns win the Royal Rumble. And I want the thinking to be that Roman Reigns is gonna come for Seth Rollins’ World Heavyweight Title.
But I want Roman Reigns to go back to that football field when he looked at Cody and said, “You’re in my way in life.” I want Roman Reigns to look at Cody as the guy who pinned him at WrestleMania 40.
Seth makes more sense cos he is the heel and Roman will be the babyface and it’s Roman vs. Seth and it’s all good. I just think there’s still, to this day, there may not be a bigger WrestleMania match with the current roster than Cody Rhodes vs. Roman Reigns. [42:05 onwards]
WWE Teases Cody Rhodes’ First Title Challenger
As the new Undisputed WWE Champion, Cody Rhodes has yet to defend his title.
On the August 8 episode of SmackDown, WWE gave fans a clue about his first challenger in Drew McIntyre, who is a three-time former world champion.
Rhodes teamed up with Cena to face McIntyre and Logan Paul in the main event.
However, the match ended abruptly after the Scottish Warrior hit Rhodes with the title. He also hit a Claymore Kick on the champion, sending the latter through the announcers’ desk.
