Cody Rhodes Reveals Truth About Whether WWE Considered Turning Him Heel
Cody Rhodes was expected to turn heel at SummerSlam 2025, but of course, John Cena turned babyface instead.
On the road to SummerSlam, fans speculated that Rhodes vs. Cena would end with a double turn, but it ended with The American Nightmare dethroning The Champ, and Brock Lesnar returning.
It has been concluded that Triple H may have cornered himself into a bad angle by having The Beast return instead of giving the fans what they had been asking for, which would have been the most logical approach.
Cody Rhodes never discussed a heel turn with WWE
During an interview with Jimmy Traina on the SI Media Podcast, The American Nightmare discussed a potential heel turn and explained that Triple H is always trying to lay out options and pick the brains of the creative team about the best possible path.
So, even if there was a heel turn discussion within the team, it never reached Cody Rhodes.
The fans are very much in control of what we do. If (me turning) was discussed, it didn’t go far. I don’t think it got to me, by any means, because I would have some ideas on how I would execute it and what would happen. If you’re Triple H and looking at three years of record business and you’re looking at your team. Rhea Ripley, CM Punk, Seth Rollins, Bron Breakker, Jacob Fatu, if you move a piece in a big way, does it affect the rest of the team? Do we keep record business? That’s a discussion where, with this company and the way it’s done today, it’s a team effort. Hunter is going to make the call, but he’s got a good war room of people to weigh it all out.
