John Cena and Cody Rhodes had an emotional moment at Saturday Night’s Main Event
Never Seen 17 sat for the first interview after retirement with Cody Rhodes on What Do You Wanna Talk About? With Cody Rhodes. The duo spoke at length about various aspects of wrestling and retirement. In the concluding moments, The Champ claimed that he did not thank The American Nightmare for the words of affirmation that came from the Undisputed WWE Champion.
“I didn’t thank you”, said John Cena.
“No, you don’t need to thank me”, said Cody Rhodes.
“Of course, I do. You came in the ring Saturday and thanked me, and I didn’t want any piece of it. Everything that was going on in my head was like, instinctually, this was wrong, I need to be better with words of affirmation, and I need to be more coachable. Take the words of affirmation and be more coachable. Let these young men call the spot, and let’s see where we land”, explained The Champ.
“Yeah, I think all I said to you was ‘don’t fight it’ and then ‘I love you'”, revealed The American Nightmare.
“Yeah, and that’s what got me”, said John Cena.
Gunther defeated The Champ in his last match. It ended with The Champ tapping out, and fans have been furious about it. However, Gunther believes it was an ideal send-off.
