Cody Rhodes Performs “The Worm” After WWE SmackDown (VIDEO)

Cody Rhodes happy

The WWE Champion Cody Rhodes showed off his athleticism while performing “The Worm” after SmackDown.

For the third straight year, Cody Rhodes will be competing in a WrestleMania main event match as he defends the WWE Title against John Cena. It will be Cody’s fourth time competing in a WrestleMania since he was in two main events at WrestleMania 40 last year.

At WWE SmackDown in Seattle, Cody Rhodes did a promo segment in the ring while he was surrounded by past iterations of the WWE Championship. Cody described it as the denotation of excellence.

Cody talked about how being WWE Champion means you are the best wrestler in the world. Cody said he’s been blessed to carry this, but this won’t always be him. Cody said that it’s about the next 20 WWE Champions, like Shawn’s NXT kids, WWE ID talent, or some kid watching this right now. Cody reminded us that one man was trying to take all that away – John Cena.

The Spinner WWE Title was in the ring, which was something that John Cena carried proudly for many of his title reigns. Cody spun the Spinner WWE Title and said that Cena carried the company on his back for ten years. Cody admitted that he doesn’t see the Spinner WWE Title as a bad thing. However, Cody reminded Cena that Cody was the WWE Champion while Cena was not.

As he continued, the WWE Champion Cody Rhodes admitted that he thinks that this may be the one time in his life when he could teach Cena a lesson. Cody mentioned all the great wrestlers on the roster, saying that Cody is the Captain, but they make eachother better.

Regarding his WrestleMania showdown, Cody said that he has to halt history and stop Cena’s quest to win the WWE Title for a record 17th time. Cody went on to say he’ll tell Cena the same thing he told Brock Lesnar and Roman Reigns. Cody claimed that he was at his best when his back was against the wall. Cody said that after it’s over, he’ll leave Cena to say goodbye.

In a final address, Cody Rhodes remarked that Cena knows his time is up, so that’s why Cena did what he did (by turning heel with a cheap attack on Cody). As for himself, Cody knows his time will be up soon, but until then this WWE Title is timeless, this stays home and this stays with us. The proud champion held up his WWE Title to end the segment while the fans cheered.

Cody Rhodes Performs The Worm For WWE Fans

During the Attitude Era of WWE from the late 1990s into the 2000s, one of the moves that got one of the biggest reactions was The Worm performed by former Tag Team Champion Scotty 2 Hotty, who was part of the Too Cool tag team with Grandmaster Sexay.

While there are variations of The Worm in today’s WWE whenever Otis and Maxxine Dupri are in the ring, a lot of fans will think of Scotty 2 Hotty when they see the move.

After WWE SmackDown in Seattle, Cody Rhodes was in a segment with Carmelo Hayes that saw him drop Hayes with a Cross Rhodes. Cody also decided to show off his skills by performing The Worm for the crowd.

Cody Rhodes mentioned during SmackDown that John Cena will be on the April 18th SmackDown in Las Vegas, so there could be one more confrontation between Cena and Rhodes before their WrestleMania 40 Sunday showdown on April 20th.
