Cody Rhodes Feels The Rock Has Two Big WWE Singles Matches To Do

The Rock Cody Rhodes WWE

Cody Rhodes thinks that The Rock needs to have at least two more big singles matches in his WWE career.

When The Rock competed in the WrestleMania 40 Saturday main event with Roman Reigns to beat Cody Rhodes & Seth Rollins, it was Rock’s first regular WWE match in 11 years.

While it’s true that Rock had a “match” at WrestleMania 32 in 2016, that was just one Rock Bottom to Erick Rowan leading to the pinfall, but it was not a regular match.

At WrestleMania 41 in Las Vegas, The Rock is surprisingly not part of the card when it comes to matches. However, Rock played a major role at WWE Elimination Chamber when Rhodes refused to “sell his soul” to The Final Boss, but John Cena shockingly did to set up Cena in a heel role.

During an appearance on the Pardon My Take podcast, Cody Rhodes talked about losing to Rock in the WrestleMania 40 main event and how Cody wants his win back as he discussed potential matches for Rock in the future.

He did [pin me last year]. I’m a bit of an ego-centric individual that wants his win back. I think he’s due for more than one match and I would love to be penciled in on one of those.

Obviously, that schedule is as intense as it gets, but he’s still so involved with WWE, he could have easily been The Final Boss and just kind of taken that as a customary title, but he has really gotten his hands involved in what we’re doing.

Even though we may not like one another, the thing I do like about him is instantly, no matter what he’s done, record-breaking Disney movie, whatever he did that weekend and showed up, when you look at him you can tell — oh, brother is a wrestler. It’s in there.

It’s hitting the ropes and what the reaction you can get from doing wrestling moves in the ring and the promo and the interview. I really have enjoyed that connection with him, I’d like to be one of those.

Cody Rhodes Wants To See The Rock Face Roman Reigns

After making it clear that he wants to have a singles match with The Rock, Cody Rhodes also wants to see Rock in a singles match with a man with whom Cody main evented WrestleMania with three times: “The Tribal Chief” Roman Reigns.

“I think he has two matches he has to do. I’m not putting any pressure on anyone, but I think he does — I’d love to see him and his cousin, Roman Reigns ever have this encounter. Maybe it’s the greatest match we never get because timing or whatever it may be and I think we need to finish our own story with him and myself. We’ll see.”

Regarding his rivalry with John Cena, Cody Rhodes got the upper hand on WWE Raw after calling Cena a “piece of s**t” and Rhodes dropped Cena with a Cross Rhodes to end their segment.
