Cody Rhodes & The Rock Pop Huge Number On WWE Raw

The Rock Cody Rhodes WWE Raw

There’s a showdown coming somewhere down the line in WWE between Cody Rhodes and The Rock and it’s sure to generate a lot of interest if their rating for Raw is anything to go by.

Cody Rhodes finished his story by capturing the WWE Championship from Roman Reigns in one of the wildest WrestleMania main events in history. It was Bloodline Rules following The Rock and Reigns defeating Rhodes and Seth Rollins on the first night of WWE’s showpiece event and Roman Reigns will be left wondering why he didn’t make more of that stipulation.

On the Raw after WrestleMania 40, Cody Rhodes was welcomed to the ring by Triple H who again congratulated him on his huge achievement. Leaving the floor to Rhodes, the new champion spoke in admiration of what Roman Reigns had accomplished and showed a video of his daughter Liberty on the big screen. As he was wrapping up his comments, The Rock made his presence felt.

The Rock trashed the Philadelphia crowd before acknowledging what Rhodes had achieved. He then asked to hold the WWE Championship which Rhodes agreed to if he could hold the People’s Championship which had been bestowed upon The Great One at the WWE Hall Of Fame.

The Rock noted that Rhodes’ belt “just kinda feels right” on his shoulder before noting that he had to go away for a little while now but when he returned he was coming after Rhodes, reminding him that he pinned Rhodes on the first night of WrestleMania 40. The Final Boss finished by noting that while Rhodes’ story with Roman Reigns is now finished, as far as his story with The Rock goes, it’s only just beginning.

The Rock & Cody Rhodes Are Unsurprisingly A Draw

Now the full weight of having the two megastars going face-to-face on Raw has been revealed in the ratings for the show. The show averaged 2.36 million viewers for the full show with a 0.83 rating in the 18-49 demographic but the quarter-hour breakdown paints a more detailed picture.

Wrestlenomics reported that the second quarter of the show featuring The Rock and Cody Rhodes earned 2.95 million but that went up in the third quarter where they continued their showdown to a whopping 3.19 million viewers which is the largest quarter-hour rating for a WWE segment in years. The respective quarter-hour 18-49 ratings for those two quarters were 1.04 and 1.11.
