Cody Rhodes Addresses What The Rock Gave Back To Him On WWE Raw

Cody Rhodes has provided fans with some insight into what The Rock may have given back to him on the night after WrestleMania 40.

At WrestleMania 40 Sunday, Cody Rhodes won the biggest match of his life when he defeated Roman Reigns to become the Undisputed WWE Champion for the first time. The win put an end to Reigns’ 1,316-day reign as the Undisputed WWE Universal Champion and solidified Rhodes as “The Guy” in WWE.

One night earlier at WrestleMania 40 Saturday, there was a tag team match main event. That match saw Roman Reigns & Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson defeat Cody Rhodes & Seth “Freakin” Rollins in the second longest WrestleMania main event match in WWE history. More specifically, The Rock beat Cody Rhodes with a People’s Elbow for the pinfall win.

On the Raw after WrestleMania, The Rock interrupted a Cody Rhodes promo and made it known to Cody that he was coming for him whenever The Rock returned to WWE. The promo also included Rock handing something to Cody and telling Cody to never break The Rock’s heart again.

While not confirmed, it has been revealed that Cody Rhodes had four watches made for WrestleMania 40 weekend with the belief that Rhodes, Rollins, Reigns and The Rock got those watches to commemorate their WrestleMania main event.

In an interview with Esquire about his interest in watches, Cody made it clear he hasn’t said who received the watches.

“Well, I’ve never confirmed who they went to. But I will say this – and I’m sure you can read between the lines. There were four of them made for WrestleMania main eventers. And again, even if you don’t like the person you’re standing across from, we’ll never be back in that place in time. And I wanted something to remember it. So, I can’t confirm that’s where it went. But that’s probably a pretty good guess.”

Cody Rhodes Believes The Rock Will Come Looking For Him

As the interview continued, Cody Rhodes said he knew that Rock was coming for him.

“So, it’s highly suspected that what The Rock put back in my hand the day after WrestleMania [there was a further ‘heated exchange’ between the pair on TV the following night] was the watch I had given him – the WrestleMania XL commemorative watch with the logo on and the custom dial, and for him a few extra links, because he’s got a big boy wrist.”

“And that return of said item… I don’t want to use the word ‘trouble’, but it spells something brewing in the future. I don’t know with his schedule, if he’s ever going to come back [to wrestling more permanently]. But I do believe he will. And I believe he’ll come looking for me. And I’ll be right where he left me.”

While a Cody Rhodes-The Rock singles match will be speculated for the next ten months, what we do know is that Cody Rhodes will face AJ Styles next at the WWE Clash at the Castle PLE in Scotland on June 15th.
