Cody Rhodes Teases Showdown With The Rock

The Rock Cody Rhodes WWE

Cody Rhodes says his offer still stands.

After The Rock turned heel back in February, he aligned with Roman Reigns and sought to make Cody Rhodes’ life as miserable as possible. This saw the Hollywood megastar leave Rhodes a bloody mess on Raw while cutting promos on social media aimed at not only the man himself but his mother.

On night one of WrestleMania 40, The Great One then pinned Rhodes in a huge tag team match placing him on the backfoot for his match against Reigns the following night. Although the American Nightmare ultimately beat Reigns, he came face to face with The Rock again on Raw.

After that meeting, Rock is again focusing on his acting career, but it’s long been reported that he and Rhodes will meet one-on-one at WrestleMania 41.

During an interview with Chris Van Vliet, Rhodes was asked about a potential match with The Rock, commenting that his offer still stands.

“Offer still stands. And again, if he never comes back, he’s done it all. He really has. And as much as I insulted him previously, it was an honor to be part of his last outing. But what I learned physically in the ring with him, it shouldn’t be his last outing.

There’s more. There’s not just gas left in the tank, there might be multiple tanks. There’s more, and I would like the WWE Universe or pro wrestling fans, I’d like them to see that. I think there’s a world where, WWE Director of the Board — great, but I think there’s a world where WWE really benefits.

And this young audience being able to connect with him, they don’t know him as the People’s Champ, they know him as the Final Boss. That offer stands whenever.”

Cody Rhodes Never Planned To Stay With AEW

During the same interview, Cody Rhodes admitted he never planned to stay in AEW, explaining he knew there was “something greater” waiting for him. The star was instrumental in the creation of the company, but described his stay as a “season,” adding it was a way of improving before moving back to WWE.

Rhodes left AEW in February 2022, before returning to WWE at WrestleMania 38.
