Cody Rhodes thinks WWE will continue to go from strength to strength.

Despite some murmurings of discontent among sections of the WWE fanbase regarding ticket pricing and other issues, the company’s boom period continues.

From a business perspective, WWE is making more money than ever and expanding all over the world like never before. Combine that with its acquisition of AAA and working relationship with TNA, and it’s in a strong position.

During an appearance on The Pat McAfee Show, Cody Rhodes was asked about WWE’s boom in light of the company’s new partnership with ESPN. He said that, unlike in the past, he feels this boom can continue.

“With ESPN and where the industry is at, pro wrestling in general, it’s only onwards and upwards, which is new, because you have these peaks and valleys throughout wrestling history.”

The Undisputed WWE Champion went on to add further historical context, noting that periods such as the Attitude Era were shorter than fans often remember.

“I’ve always loved it, but look at the Attitude Era. If you really look back at it, it’s actually a shorter time than we remember,” he explained. “The Golden Age of the 1980s, Macho and all that, it’s a shorter time than we remember. We’ve been cruising now for four or five years, Dallas Mania, even the year prior to that, it’s been onwards, upwards.”

Rhodes went on to say that there were two key factors behind WWE’s success, and the first of these is Nick Khan, whom the champion described as a “super genius.” The American Nightmare added that the incredibly strong roster is pushing the company forward.

“A lot of that has to do with Nick Khan coming on board with WWE. He’s a super genius. And so much of it has to do with the best roster. The WWE roster is… you got Seth Rollins. The fact that we get to go do that and get to do it in Western Australia, in Perth, World Champion, WWE Champion. It’s a beautiful thing.”

While Rhodes is enjoying WWE’s recent run, he feels that things an get ever better if everyone on the talented roster he mentioned can stay healthy.

“As long as this roster stays healthy, stays happy, stays cooking, it’s onwards and upwards,” he said. “And I think the heights for sports entertainment and pro wrestling, we’ve never seen anything like this before. The fact that other people think it’s cool now too, makes my day.”

During the same interview, Cody Rhodes explained why he treasuring the chance to team with Randy Orton on SmackDown. On October 3, the pair are due to square off with Bronson Reed and Bron Breakker.

Following that match, Rhodes will then go on to face the leader of The Vision, Seth Rollins, at Crown Jewel.
