Cody Rhodes Wears Suits In WWE To Present Certain Image
Cody Rhodes knows his look is important in WWE and that’s why he’s a big fan of wearing suits.
There aren’t that many pro wrestlers who wear suits to the ring and backstage when they aren’t wrestling, but Cody Rhodes has his reason for doing so.
When WWE fans watch the product, they will often see Cody Rhodes walking out to the ring wearing a suit while carrying around the Undisputed WWE Championship. Many pro wrestlers will wear their t-shirts or something else on their way to the ring, but not Cody.
While Cody is known as the suit-wearing guy to a lot of fans, there are some exceptions like when he might choose to wear a t-shirt because it’s a situation that will likely break out into a fight.
In an interview with Jazzy’s World TV, the Undisputed WWE Champion Cody Rhodes said that wearing a suit is not a tribute to his family while noting his father Dusty Rhodes was not a suit guy.
“I wish it was something that was a thing that my family did, but my dad didn’t even know how to tie a tie.”
“For me, and specifically where it started was when I was doing the independent scene, I wanted to be basically the man I always thought I could be.”
Cody Rhodes Wants To Look Professional
As the interview continued, Cody Rhodes spoke about how wearing suits is his way of telling the audience that he wants to be professional when he sees them.
“A lot of people looked at it and thought like, ‘Oh, it was overcompensation, oh it was pretentious, oh it was insecurity’.’ Really, it was just a matter of I felt like, ‘Hey, I wanna be the most professional in the room.'”
Does Cody wear suits at home? The champ shot that one down.
“It became all I wear to the point where it’s funny if you ever catch me in — I guess vacation clothes I call them… They’re really bad.”
At WWE Saturday Night’s Main Event on December 14th in Long Island, NY, Cody Rhodes will defend the Undisputed WWE Championship against his rival Kevin Owens. A recent video featuring Cody and WWE’s CCO Triple H teased the idea that Cody could be bringing the Winged Eagles version of the WWE Title with him for one night only.
