Cody Rhodes Reveals If He’s Still Trying To Change WWE Title Design

Cody Rhodes holding Undisputed WWE Championship

Cody Rhodes has addressed if he is still trying to change the look of the Undisputed WWE Championship.

At WrestleMania 40, Cody Rhodes “finished the story” by beating Roman Reigns to become the Undisputed WWE Champion.

Ever since he won the WWE Championship, Cody has defended it consistently for the past six months at live events as well as televised defenses against the likes of AJ Styles, Kevin Owens, Solo Sikoa, and Logan Paul.

While the WWE audience loves Cody as much as ever, the WWE Champion did tease changing the look of the title, which hasn’t happened yet. By changing the look, Cody wants to bring back the classic “Winged Eagle” WWE Title design that old-school fans of the company love.

WWE Championship Winged Eagle

This is something Cody Rhodes spoke about in April 2022 when he returned to WWE, again in 2023 when he challenged Roman Reigns at WrestleMania 39, and also after his WrestleMania 40 championship win.

The subject of Cody Rhodes bringing back the Winged Eagle WWE Championship came again when he spoke to Josh Martinez on Superstar Crossover.

“I’m so glad you asked. Please know, anyone who ever heard me say the words ‘Winged Eagle Title,’ I actively am still on the hunt. I am still on the mission, and if anything, I have shown in the past, even if it’s for a single night or fleeting, I try to be a man of my word. So, I’m working on it.”

Cody Rhodes Admitted He Is Getting Used To Current WWE Title Design

While the current look for the undisputed WWE Championship doesn’t have the same aura as the Winged Eagle version, it does featured the WWE logo prominently, which is a good thing when it comes to representing and marketing the company.

When Cody recently spoke to GQ, he admitted he was linked to this version of the WWE Championship.

“In the end, all of this chaos, something magical happens. We get to WrestleMania and we finish the story. I’d say one of the things I like about the title a lot is it’s not a nameplate. Now, it’s all about your individual side plates. I also love that this title is specifically this generation’s title. I am fond of the Winged Eagle, which is the title from the 1990s. Hulk Hogan wore it, Ultimate Warrior wore it, Ric Flair wore it, Bret Hart wore it.”

“I am actively trying to find a way to get that into the WWE world, but this is also the title that was around Roman Reigns’ waist the night I beat him, and there is a part of that that makes me more linked to this look and this aesthetic for a WWE Championship than ever.”

At WWE Bad Blood, Cody Rhodes won’t put the WWE Title on the line, but he will team up with Roman Reigns against The Bloodline’s Solo Sikoa & Jacob Fatu. It’s a big match that will take place in Cody’s hometown of Atlanta.
