Cody Rhodes Sparks Speculation About WWE Future With Cryptic Post
Cody Rhodes has a big match coming up at SummerSlam.
He kicked off 2025 as the world champion and had the world in the palm of his hand.
But that changed at WrestleMania, as he not only lost his belt to John Cena, but completely disappeared from programming before returning at Saturday Night’s Main Event in May.
Since then, he hasn’t been assured of a title match, but has had to work to earn his shot.
A couple of weeks ago, Cody Rhodes won the King of the Ring Tournament at WWE Night of Champions, thus securing the right to challenge Cena for the Undisputed WWE Championship.
With the sun shining brightly on the former champion again, his latest message on social media sent fans into a frenzy.
Cody Rhodes’ Cryptic Message Confuses Fans
Cody Rhodes took to X to share the following message recently:
Don’t flinch. Thank you all for riding with me all this time. Love you for it.
Excited for what we do next.
— Cody Rhodes (@CodyRhodes) July 8, 2025
The tweet set the comments section on the post alight, with wrestling fans immediately starting to speculate about what it meant.
@aitordri: @CodyRhodes sounds like a farewell
@Funinthesun011: What is this in reference to?
@wrestlin_wasabi: CODY DO NOT TURN HEEL
@CGTraderX: Please turn heel… now that you’ve finished the story you need a fresh new direction.
@yaboyceo_: WE ARE WITH YOU NOT FLINCHING QB1
@KarrieS56169: Thank you for being such an amazing face to watch for all of these years I am excited and looking forward to seeing your heel turn moment arrive…
Is Cody Rhodes hinting at retirement? The simple answer is no.
The American Nightmare is well on his way to challenging John Cena for the title and has no plans to deviate from it.
Is another hiatus around the corner with Rhodes having signed a new movie? It’s imminent as the film will start shooting later this year.
Or is it foreshadowing a turning heel?
Rhodes had recently spoken about a possible change in his character’s arc, as he has been a babyface since returning to WWE in 2022.
As of this moment, the meaning behind his tweet remains a mystery, and only the next few weeks will spell it out.
