Cody Rhodes’ Sister Calls Out Fans In Defense Of Her Brother
Cody Rhodes’ sister went on social media to defend her brother against some criticism.
Over the last three years, Cody Rhodes has become a main event performer in WWE who has headlined WrestleMania four times over the previous three years.
As a two-time Undisputed WWE Champion, Cody Rhodes likes to refer to himself as QB1, a nod to being the quarterback of the WWE team, as if it were an NFL team. In American football, the quarterback is one of the most important players and leaders on the team, so that’s how Cody sees himself in WWE.
During Cody’s run at the top of WWE, the company has done very well with billion-dollar deals with Netflix and ESPN, while also selling out stadiums around the world. Recently, though, they had low attendance at a SmackDown taping, and many fans are complaining about ticket prices being too high.
A fan on X/Twitter wrote the following about how Cody gets credit for WWE’s success, but not the blame.
Ohh, when it comes to profitable it’s because of Cody Rhodes but ‘ loss-making ‘ than it’s nothing to do with Cody! WTF! 😭
In response to that, Cody’s sister Teil Runnels (Teil Rhodes on X) in a now-deleted response on X wrote:
“only Rhodes are responsible for all wrestling downturns but never credited for its booms or actual all time gates. ok guys”
The all-time gates are in reference to WrestleMania main events in recent years, which Cody was a major part of, and absolutely deserves credit for.
Cody Rhodes Openly Discusses His WWE Future
As a 40-year-old married father of two daughters, Cody Rhodes leads a busy life, and he knows he can’t wrestle forever. In a recent interview, Cody made the point that the next WWE contract that he signs will likely be his last.
“My last contract with WWE or the next contract I sign, probably be my last, and finish my days with WWE. It’s the house that built me. It’s the house that brought me back and put me in this wonderful, wonderful position but yeah, I don’t know. It’s very, very hard to balance.”
What we don’t know is when his current WWE contract expires. It’s possible that he could be on this contract for another few years and then sign a five-year deal at 43 years old and by that time be around 48 years old, which is where guys like John Cena and AJ Styles are as they plan their wrestling retirements. Nobody can go forever, so Cody was just speaking from the heart and being honest as usual.
