Could Cody Rhodes be the next Triple H?

While Triple H has only been heading up WWE since 2022, with Shawn Michaels overseeing NXT since September 2021, talk has already begun about what might come next. This has included suggestions that CM Punk is already looking to take over from HBK when he hangs up his boots.

Fans have also claimed that Cody Rhodes could step into Triple H’s shoes, while Seth Rollins has already confirmed he’s discussed a backstage role.

Cody Rhodes Looking For Top WWE Job

During an appearance on ESPN’s Unsportsmanlike show to promote the company’s new partnership with WWE, Cody Rhodes looked ahead to the future. When asked whether he’d like to be where Triple H is in ten years, he said he’d love his name to be in the frame, but he admitted that he isn’t alone.

“I think there’s starting to become a fight for it, and I didn’t see that at first. I thought, well, obviously I’m the best candidate,” Rhodes laughed.

“I don’t know if I’m actually the best candidate. I felt like I had some experience, and I’d be interested in something like that, but also, it’s very clear that CM Punk is really great at helping develop young talent. He probably has a knack for it more than anybody.

Seth Rollins is a little bit more rough around the edges, but would probably be an outstanding boss when it comes down to it. I’d love to throw my name in the hat. I don’t know if I’m ready to do it officially yet, but I like the fact that there’s the three of us, plus there’s tons of other people. Bayley, Roman (Reigns) will always have a say.

You’ve got an older locker room right now, so eventually those positions, see if you can do good because it’s not always booking. The industry is not easy, and Triple H is doing a great job, so thankfully, we have him for quite some time.”

At Wrestlepalooza, Cody Rhodes is set to return to action to put the Undisputed WWE Championship on the line against Drew McIntyre. The match will be Rhodes’ first since teaming with John Cena against McIntyre and Logan Paul on August 8.

On the same show, Rhodes was given a Claymore through the side of the announce table. The angle was used to explain the star’s absence while filming the new Street Fighter movie.

Also at Wrestlepalooza, CM Punk will team with the returning AJ Lee to face Seth Rollins and Becky Lynch.
