Cody Rhodes Saved By 14-Time World Champion On WWE SmackDown

Cody Rhodes almost fell victim to a vicious attack before a former world champion came to his rescue.

Paul Heyman kicked off tonight’s episode of SmackDown to ask the crowd what they wanted to talk about, mimicking the Undisputed WWE Champion Cody Rhodes. He asked if they wanted to talk about the World Heavyweight Champion, Seth Rollins.

When fans chanted OTC, The Oracle took a jab at Roman Reigns, claiming he would love to talk about him, but it was disrespectful to speak of the injured “when he got his a** stretchered out of Paris by Big Bronson Reed.”

The WWE Hall of Famer then wondered if he should address the rumors surrounding his relationship with Brock Lesnar. Heyman was then interrupted by The American Nightmare.

Cody Rhodes Questions Paul Heyman’s Loyalty On WWE SmackDown

The Undisputed WWE Champion confronted Paul Heyman, questioning the latter’s connection to The Beast Incarnate. He pointed out that a Heyman and Lesnar’s picture at Wrestlepalooza indicates their reunion was not a one-off. Cody Rhodes then asked the WWE Hall of Famer whether he was talking to The Oracle, The Wiseman, or The Advocate. Heyman responded by telling The American Nightmare he was talking to the GOAT.

The WWE Hall of Famer said that he admired Rhodes confronting him about Brock Lesnar, admitting that when The Beast Incarnate is around, nobody is safe. Heyman then informed the Undisputed WWE Champion that while Lesnar was not at SmackDown, it did not mean he was not in danger.

The Vision, Bronson Reed and Bron Breakker, then appeared and entered the ring with Rhodes as Heyman stepped outside to the ring apron. The confrontation saw The American Nightmare question The Oracle’s loyalty to The Vision. It then turned into a brawl.

Although Rhodes took the first shot, the tide quickly turned due to the numbers advantage. However, Randy Orton rushed to his friend’s aid. As The Viper took out Reed with an RKO, The Undisputed WWE Champion clotheslined Breakker, sending him outside the ring.
