Cody Rhodes Reacts To Matt Cardona’s Ghostbusters Entrance

Cody Rhodes and Matt Cardona

Cody Rhodes has commented on Matt Cardona’s recent GCW entrance.

At GCW Homecoming, Cardona teamed with Steph De Lander to take on Nick Gage and Maki Itoh aka Maki Death Kill. The pair made a splash with their entrance which saw them arriving in style in Ecto-1, the car made famous by the Ghostbusters franchise.

When the pair emerged from the car, they were wearing even wearing replica suits from the movies while a custom version of the theme echoed through the arena and played on their recent “Deathmatch Buster” gimmick.

WWE star and friend of Cardona’s, Cody Rhodes, reposted the entrance on social media and complimented the Indy God.

“Man he’s good”

There was a lot of busting going on in the match itself, but unfortunately for them, Cardona and De Lander were on the receiving end of a lot of it, being cut by weapons like glass, thumbtacks, and a pizza cutter.

In the end, Itoh and Gage won the bout with double-diving headbutts on the Deathmatch Busters when they were lying among the thumbtacks.

Matt Cardona wants to face Cody Rhodes if he returns to WWE

Earlier this year, Cardona was a guest on the Heated Shenanigans podcast when the subject of a potential return to WWE came up. While the star isn’t going out of his way to get back to the company he did say if it happened he would like to get in the ring with Cody as the pair have a real-life history.

“I don’t know off the top of my head what my first program would be back, but there’s a lot of guys that I’d like to get in the ring with. Cody Rhodes is one of them.

“There’s a story that is more than just a wrestling story. A true life story, and I think that’s what makes wrestling the most special, is when there’s that element of realism behind it, like, ‘Is this real? Is this not?’

“When you have the question, I think that’s when wrestling is at its best. Also, he’s at the top, right? So go right for the top dog.”
