Cody Rhodes Recalls Getting Pushed Aside By Donald Trump At WWE Show
Not many people can push Cody Rhodes aside today.
The American Nightmare has built a colossus reputation that is hard to ignore or not acknowledge. Though that was not the case during the mid-2010s.
His character was constantly rewritten with no destination in sight. Some of his gimmicks included “Dashing”/”Undashing” Cody Rhodes, Rhodes Scholars with Damien Sandow, and the infamous Stardust.
Rhodes would depart the Stamford-based promotion in May 2016.
The former Undisputed WWE Champion recently sat down for a chat with Nikki Bella during his What Do You Wanna Talk About? podcast.
At one point, they began discussing their ‘Walk of Shame’ moments in WWE. Incidentally, both their situations came during WrestleMania 29, when their scheduled match was canceled.
While sharing his moment, Rhodes recalled coming across the incumbent United States President Donald Trump, who was set to be inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame.
So, my walk of shame wasn’t far because I went under the stage. So I went under the stage just to sit there cos my fear was ‘I’m gonna say something or yell at somebody or some writer is gonna ask for something and I’m gonna go crazy.’
So, I went and sat under the stage. I was really trying to kinda control my emotions, the whole thing, and believe it or not, I’m sitting there. I’m not looking ahead, and I felt a kick on my foot. And I heard a ‘Excuse me, young man!’ And I look up and it is the sitting president of the United States, Donald Trump, who is with his entire family walking by to then go out to do the Hall of Fame shout out or whatever it was. And I literally was like, ‘Sorry, excuse me.’ And I just turned and I’m in full gear. I had, like, my new gear on and everything cos everyone had new gear and this was WrestleMania. And I feel like it’s a very large, maybe it shouldn’t be, but it is a large part of the journey. [3:36 onwards]
