Cody Rhodes Next WWE Title Match Confirmed

Cody Rhodes will face a familiar challenger when SmackDown returns to the USA Network with the WWE Championship on the line.

Cody Rhodes survived Bloodline Rules at SummerSlam to defeat Solo Sikoa and retain his Undisputed WWE Championship after some help from an unlikely source.

Roman Reigns made his shock return to WWE to take out Sikoa who has been calling himself The Tribal Chief in Reigns’ absence. Despite the loss, Sikoa vowed that no matter who held the WWE Title after Bash In Berlin, he’d be waiting.

Cody Rhodes defeated Kevin Owens to retain his title in Germany and Solo Sikoa had made clear that despite his SummerSlam loss he’d be waiting for the winner of that bout.

Now on SmackDown in Edmonton, Alberta, Rhodes and Sikoa have been put on a collision course once again. During a confrontation between Cody Rhodes and The Bloodline, SmackDown General Manager Nick Aldis made a Steel Cage match between Rhodes and Sikoa for the WWE Championship which will take place when the blue brand returns to the USA Network on September 13th.

Carmelo Hayes and Andrade will also continue their series on that show with their current record against each other being 2-2. Meanwhile, Kevin Owens will be joined by a mystery partner to take on A-Town Down Under in a tag team match.
