Cody Rhodes Inspires Newcastle United As They Finish Their Own Story

Newcastle United have borrowed a phrase from WWE Champion Cody Rhodes as they finish their own story after their biggest win in 56 years.

Cody Rhodes finished his story at WrestleMania 40 when he captured the WWE Championship from Roman Reigns. Rhodes had made achieving that goal his number one priority when he returned to WWE in 2022 as he wanted to hold the title that his legendary father Dusty Rhodes never did.

Prior to that return, Cody Rhodes was a driving force in the foundation of AEW as his stock rose through the roof thanks to his collaborations with The Young Bucks and The Elite. This is all a long way from Rhodes leaving WWE almost unnoticed in 2016 as his career there stagnated.

“From undesirable to undeniable” became Cody Rhodes’ battle cry as he turned things around to become the biggest star in the entire industry. But his story has now been mirrored by that of English Premier League side Newcastle United.

Newcastle United’s Joelinton & Cody Rhodes In The Same Camp

Newcastle captured their first trophy in 56 years against WWE star Sheamus’ favourite team Liverpool when they won the League Cup at Wembley Stadium. One of their star men was Brazilian star Joelinton who at one point looked like he’d be one of the most expensive flops in the club’s history.

A change of position turned his fortunes around and now he has written his place in history alongside a whole host of Newcastle icons. Taking to social media, someone at the club clearly took inspiration from Cody Rhodes as the noted ‘Big Joe’ had gone “From undesirable to undeniable.”

Cody Rhodes will have to defend his WWE Title against John Cena at WrestleMania 41 after Cena won the recent Elimination Chamber. Cody Rhodes and John Cena will be under the same roof for the first time since that show on the March 17 edition of Raw where fans will no doubt hope Cena explains his shocking actions as he turned on Rhodes and joined forces with The Rock.
