Cody Rhodes Sends Message To His Father After WWE Title Win
Cody Rhodes was a bundle of emotion after winning the WWE Championship.
At WrestleMania 40, Cody Rhodes finally finished the story and pinned Roman Reigns to a monster reaction from a packed crowd at ‘The Link.’ The match was pure chaos with run-ins from The Rock, The Usos, Solo Sikoa, John Cena, and even The Undertaker, and Rhodes celebrated in the ring with much of the roster as the show went off the air.
Much of Rhodes’ quest for the WWE Title has been centred around accomplishing what his legendary father couldn’t, and delivering on a promise he made to win the gold. So unsurprisingly, when the mission was complete, Rhodes was incredibly emotional.
During the post-WrestleMania XL Sunday press conference, Rhodes was asked by Alistair McGeorge of Metro what he would say to Dusty if he could.
“If I’m being honest, I think I would want to say to him, ‘I hope I lived up to your name. Thank you for that name.’ Then I would say, ‘Sorry about the tattoo,'”
Cody Rhodes Receives Heartwarming Gift Following WrestleMania Win
Earlier in the press conference, Cody Rhodes revealed he was given a special gift as soon as he got backstage. The American Nightmare said that the watch he was wearing was given to him by Nick Khan, Bruce Prichard, and Triple H, and most importantly it was the watch his father sold to pay for him to go to acting school.
Prichard was credited as being the man who tracked the watch down.
