Cody Rhodes May Miss 5–6 Weeks Of WWE Action
WWE superstar Cody Rhodes is set to step away from the squared circle, but it’s not because of injury or controversy.
The American Nightmare has landed a major role in the highly anticipated new Street Fighter movie, which begins filming in Australia this August.
With production ramping up and a blockbuster release date targeted for March 20, 2026, Rhodes faces a career crossroads where he has to balance the thrill of Hollywood with the demands of WWE fans. This unexpected detour means a stretch of absence from WWE television, and insiders are already speculating: Just how long will he be out of action?
What Is the Anticipated Duration of Cody Rhodes’ Absence From WWE?
On a recent episode of the Wrestling with Freddie podcast, hosts Freddie Prinze Jr. and Jeff Dye weighed in on Cody Rhodes’ potential absence from WWE. Prinze, curious about the logistics of movie production for a wrestling superstar, pressed Dye for insight based on his own experience in the industry.
Dye thinks that Cody Rhodes’ Hollywood commitments will keep him sidelined for anywhere from three to six weeks, enough time for shooting, rehearsals, and ensuring those signature fight sequences match the high expectations of both movie fans and wrestling loyalists.
Dye stated, “It just depends how big the role of Akuma is going to be. I don’t imagine it being that big, that big. So I think it’ll be like a three-week job, you know what I mean? And he’ll get in there and get out. But there might be like rehearsals and all that stuff. And the fight scene rehearsals sometimes take a couple weeks. So, it could be up to, you know, five, six weeks with all that kind of crap ’cause you got to learn how to make the fight look sweet.” (From 13:51)
