Cody Rhodes Leads AEW Reunion At NXT

Cody Rhodes

Cody Rhodes was in town for NXT and the WWE Champion led an interesting reunion backstage with several stars that used to share a locker room with him in AEW.

Cody Rhodes had teased an appearance on NXT and came good with WWE apparently looking to have NXT trump AEW Dynamite in the ratings.

Rhodes ended up sharing the ring with NXT Champion Trick Williams and told Williams that the next challenger for his title would come from a 25-man battle royal on next week’s edition of the show. Cody Rhodes cautioned that there might be some talent from other locker rooms as part of that match leaving the door open to those on Raw, SmackDown, or even outside of WWE.

Backstage, Cody Rhodes soon came across his old AEW rival Shawn Spears who once infamously split The American Nightmare open with a steel chair. Spears indicated he’d be part of that battle royal before they were both interrupted by Ethan Page and then Lexis King. It was not lost on many watching that all four stars were previously part of AEW before moving on to WWE. Rhodes left the trio with the message “Seems like you guys are in a good place.”
