Cody Rhodes In Talks For Major Acting Role

WWE star Cody Rhodes

According to the latest reports, Cody Rhodes is going to be on the big screen soon.

Rhodes has been on a career hot streak ever since returning to WWE in 2022. From headlining back-to-back WrestleManias to capturing the Undisputed WWE Championship at WrestleMania 40, he has cemented himself as one of the company’s top stars.

Now, it looks like The American Nightmare may be expanding his empire beyond the squared circle and into the big screen.

Cody Rhodes Is Rumored Set To Star in the Live-Action Street Fighter Movie

According to a report from Nexus Point News, Cody Rhodes is currently in talks to portray Guile, the iconic military fighter from Capcom’s Street Fighter franchise, in an upcoming live-action adaptation of the video game series.

If finalized, this would be his most significant acting opportunity to date and would mark a major crossover move for the former Undisputed WWE Champion.

The Street Fighter reboot is being developed by Legendary Entertainment and distributed by Sony Pictures. The project was first announced in April 2023, when Legendary acquired the rights to produce film and TV content based on the popular Capcom game.

The film has experienced some shake-ups in production, with YouTubers Danny and Michael Philippou initially in talks to direct before exiting in mid-2024. They were later replaced by Kitao Sakurai, known for his work on Bad Trip.

Originally scheduled for a March 2026 release, the film was pulled from the calendar and delayed indefinitely in March 2025. Despite the delay, the project remains active, and casting discussions are ongoing.

Guile, known for his stoic personality, flat-top haircut, and signature “Sonic Boom” move, has long been one of the franchise’s most recognizable characters. The role was famously played by Jean-Claude Van Damme in the 1994 Street Fighter film.

Rhodes, with his square-jawed look, American flag persona, and military-style charisma, seems like a natural fit to bring Guile to life for a new generation of fans. For now, Rhodes continues to ride high in WWE, most recently defeating Randy Orton in a hard-fought main event at Night of Champions 2025.
