Cody Rhodes Says It Would Be The “Honor Of His Life” To Face WWE Legend

Cody Rhodes WWE Champion Stare

Cody Rhodes has addressed the possibility of wrestling one of the greatest stars in the history of WWE.

When Cody Rhodes became the Undisputed WWE Champion for the first time at WrestleMania 40 this past April, he did so by beating Roman Reigns in a Bloodline Rules Match that saw several WWE legends come to Cody’s aid to fend off The Bloodline.

One of those legends was John Cena, who is a man Cody has spoken about fondly since they spent a lot of time together early in Cody’s career.

As most WWE fans know, the year 2025 will be Cena’s last as an in-ring competitor. Cena recently said he’ll appear on about 36 WWE shows around the world in 2025 with his last match coming in December of that year. What we don’t know yet is who he might wrestle again.

At the wildly successful Fanatics Fest NYC event, Cody Rhodes was asked about a potential match with Cena as part of Cena’s retirement tour.

“We get to live in this era, he’s definitely a man of his word. When he says it’s farewell, it truly is farewell. If you have the farewell tour t-shirt, go and get it, this is it. I drove John around for a year and I learned everything I possibly could. Didn’t realize I was learning so much at the time.”

“It would be the honor of my life to wrestle John Cena in any capacity. He’s the GOAT for a reason.”

The “GOAT” term that Cody used means Greatest Of All Time, which is also the phrase that WWE often uses when they talk about Cena’s place in company history.
