Cody Rhodes’ Heel Turn May Have Started At WWE SummerSlam
Fans were expecting Cody Rhodes to embrace the dark side at SummerSlam, but that didn’t happen.
The most popular speculation was that babyface John Cena would be pinned, and then The American Nightmare would turn heel on The Champ.
However, Rhodes shared an embracing hug with Cena after pinning him, and then left the ring for The Leader of Cenation to enjoy his final moments of his last SummerSlam.
Cody Rhodes’ heel turn might have been triggered at SummerSlam
While The American Nightmare did not turn completely heel at the premium live event, the heel turn may have been triggered already.
On Sportskeeda WrestleBinge’s SummerSlam review, Bill Apter noted that at some point, Rhodes can question the fans for booing him during his biggest night, which could lead to a potential character change.
I think Cody Rhodes slowly is going to say I can’t believe that you people, that you people, the fans booed me in one of my greatest nights. And maybe slowly but surely, we will see a heel turn in Cody Rhodes, and we might enjoy that. Because you could see how POed he was a lot during that match.
Cody Rhodes has been advertised for this week’s SmackDown, and fans can expect his next challenger to reveal himself on the blue show.
