Hall Of Famer Praises WWE For Cody Rhodes-Roman Reigns Segment
A Hall of Famer says that WWE’s recent Cody Rhodes-Roman Reigns segment is an example of what the company does best.
On the September 20th edition of WWE SmackDown, one of the most unique segments aired on WWE television this year. It involved the Undisputed WWE Champion Cody Rhodes having a chat with former WWE Champion Roman Reigns at midfield of Georgia Tech’s football stadium.
The idea behind the segment was that Reigns starred in college football at Georgia Tech while Cody lives in the city of Atlanta, which is where Georgia Tech is.
Atlanta is also the city that will host WWE Bad Blood next Saturday, October 5th when Cody & Roman team up against The Bloodline’s Solo Sikoa & Jacob Fatu, both of whom are cousins of Reigns.
During the segment, Cody wanted to know if he could trust Roman in the match. Roman assured Cody that he could be trusted, but Roman also made it clear that after they were done dealing with The Bloodline, Roman was coming for the WWE Title. That’s when Cody informed Roman that the WWE Title was not for Roman to take.
Cody Rhodes-Roman Reigns Georgia Tech Segment Is An Example Of What WWE Is Great At
While speaking about the Cody Rhodes-Roman Reigns segment on his Hall of Fame podcast, WWE Hall of Famer Booker T said it’s an example of how WWE is about more than what goes on in the ring.
“I think it goes back to what I said a couple of weeks ago. And they picked up the story, as far as I was talking about the differences between WWE and AEW. As far as what WWE is doing, as far as creating stars and AEW having good wrestling matches — per se, good wrestling matches.”
“Being able to create a show, an overall show, to where you watch it for more than just the wrestling. I think that’s what that [segment] brought to the table.”
“That right there is what WWE has always been so good at for so many years. And that’s making you feel like something’s happening [and] that you gotta be a part of it. It’s always just like back in the day when a new character would show up, but before they showed up, they would do a package on them for four to six weeks. And you didn’t even know who that guy was, but by the time he got here, you couldn’t wait to see him.”
The next WWE PLE is Bad Blood on October 5th in Atlanta with this lineup announced so far.
* Roman Reigns & Cody Rhodes vs. The Bloodline – Solo Sikoa & Jacob Fatu
* Hell in a Cell Match: CM Punk vs. Drew McIntyre
* WWE Women’s World Championship: Liv Morgan (c) vs. Rhea Ripley
* Damian Priest vs. Finn Balor
* WWE Women’s Championship: Nia Jax (c) vs. Bayley
You can watch WWE Bad Blood, streaming live on Saturday, October 5, at 6 p.m. ET/3 p.m. PT on Peacock in the United States and on WWE Network everywhere else.
