Cody Rhodes Was Given Finishing Move By WWE Veteran
Cody Rhodes says a current WWE Producer is the person who helped him start using the Cross Rhodes finishing move.
A finishing move is an important part of a pro wrestler’s arsenal. It is usually something unique that other wrestlers don’t do so when that particular wrestler does it, the fans believe it is a move that can end a match.
As the years have gone on, moves like the DDT that Jake Roberts used and the Sweet Chin Music superkick by Shawn Michaels no longer are finishers because wrestlers used them during matches all the time.
For Cody Rhodes, the Cross Rhodes move isn’t necessarily something that he invented, but it is now known as his finishing move. It’s like a reverse neckbreaker that sees Cody drive his opponent’s head into the mat. Perhaps the most famous Cross Rhodes sequence ever was at WrestleMania 40 when Cody hit Roman Reigns with the Cross Rhodes three times in a row to become the Undisputed WWE Champion for the first time.
WWE Producer Jamie Noble Gave Cody Rhodes Idea For Finishing Move
During an appearance on the Flagrant podcast, Cody Rhodes explained how he started using the classic Roll The Dice move and how it came to him from WWE wrestler Jamie Noble, who is now one of the top Producers in the company.
“No, I just steal my stuff from other guys. Yeah (the Cross Rhodes existed before me). It’s called the Roll of the Dice. Still works for me. It’s called the Roll of the Dice… That’s the thing, I had a lot of the mental, hey, I know the psychology. I was raised in the business.”
“So I had the stuff that people get later ingrained in me but the stuff that people get early, like a physicality to being in great shape, a good moveset. I hate that term but hey, do some cool moves. I didn’t have any of that so WWE was backwards in how they, ‘Hey, try this.’ I remember Jamie Noble gave me Cross Rhodes. ‘Hey, try this…’ “
Cody Rhodes will be in action at WWE Crown Jewel on November 2nd when he faces the World Heavyweight Champion Gunther in a match where the winner gets the brand new Crown Jewel Championship.
