Cody Rhodes Couldn’t Help But Smile At WWE WarGames Announcement

Cody Rhodes

‘The American Nightmare’ Cody Rhodes has revealed why he was left smiling at a recent WWE announcement.

Rhodes is set to team with Seth Rollins, Jey Uso and Sami Zayn to battle The Judgment Day at Survivor Series: WarGames, set to emanate from Chicago’s Allstate Arena on 25th November.

The eight Superstars will compete in the mens WarGames match at the highly anticipated Premium Live Event, a bout that holds a special place in the heart of Cody Rhodes as it was originally devised by his father, the late ‘American Dream’ Dusty Rhodes in 1987.

Speaking during a recent interview with Gabby AF, the former WWE Intercontinental Champion revealed that he couldn’t help but smile after his place in the match was confirmed, noting that he had long pictured what his debut inside the huge structure might look like:

“It’s my first real WarGames, but I’ve had a million WarGames matches in my head, in the car, when we were going over teams, who would be on my team. There was a moment after he said the words when we were all looking tough and mean-mugging and staring at each other, half blown-up, and I couldn’t help but smile. I really couldn’t.

This run from WrestleMania, when I came back in Dallas, to right now, through WrestleMania 39 in Hollywood to right now, has been just, I don’t know the word to describe it. But I don’t even want to say the word because I don’t want to jinx it. I don’t want it to end. Every week is more signs in the crowd, more noise, more this, more that.”

Cody Rhodes Has High Praise For WWE Official

Cody Rhodes also praised the work of Raw General Manager Adam Pearce during the interview. Former NXT General Manager William Regal had gained previous notoriety for his expressive announcements of the WarGames matches and Rhodes believes that Pearce deserves praise for a ‘powerful’ delivery of his own.

Rhodes also noted his belief that Nick Aldis, who was named General Manager of SmackDown on the 13th October edition of the show, would excel in his new role:

“Give him his props. You mentioned Adam Pearce. Adam Pearce is outstanding as the General Manager of Monday Night Raw, and I feel Nick Aldis on SmackDown will also excel in that role.

I told Adam, when I saw him on the mic, that was powerful. He had to follow Regal’s footsteps in announcing WarGames.”
