Cody Rhodes Wants To Compete In Two Brutal WWE Matches
Cody Rhodes has described one bloody match as a “competitor’s dream.”
At SummerSlam, Cody Rhodes will challenge John Cena for the Undisputed WWE Championship. The match serves as a huge WrestleMania 41 rematch, with Rhodes determined to right the wrongs of that historic night in Las Vegas.
But as always, Rhodes remains keen to push the envelope.
While appearing on WFAN, Rhodes was asked whether there are any match types he’d like to compete in that he hasn’t had the chance to. In response, the star named a couple of very violent choices.
“For me, I’d be interested in a First Blood match. The psychology in how you do it and wrestle is really fun. I loved First Blood matches. They left a lot of ways you can do it and keep guys whole.
First Blood is one. Dog Collar, I don’t ever see happening because of the neck. Here is one that I’ve thought about. I don’t know what you’d name it because we have Street Fights. I don’t know what it would take, I don’t know what we would call it, I used to love when they would do the ropes in barbed wire. Dusty (Rhodes) and Tully (Blanchard). The danger.
WWE has done the Inferno Match with the fire. The danger of getting close. It’s a competitor’s dream. That’s one I’ve thought about a lot. The barbed wire and putting it on the ropes,”
Cody Rhodes Comments On AEW “Bad Blood”
During a different interview, Cody Rhodes admitted there remains “bad blood” over his departure from AEW. However, he was also quick to point out that his connection to the company contains lots of love and respect.
But, he claimed, both he and his wife, Brandi, felt disrespected by the promotion they helped build, which pushed him to return to WWE.
In the past, Rhodes and AEW boss Tony Khan have both stated that they won’t publicly discuss the reason for the former’s departure, instead choosing to keep the details private.
