Cody Rhodes Comments On Title Loss: “That Wasn’t Supposed To Happen”
It hasn’t been a good week for Cody Rhodes.
At Fastlane, the American Nightmare and Jey Uso teamed up for the first time and managed to win the Undisputed Tag Team Titles. The pair saw off Damian Priest and Finn Balor after JD McDonagh’s attempts to help Judgment Day backfired badly.
However, their reign came to a shuddering halt after just nine days on the October 16th episode of Raw. In the main event, Rhodes and Jey took on Priest and Balor but were undone by interference from Jimmy Uso.
Posting on social media, Rhodes has now reacted to the loss with a simple message:
Well That wasn’t supposed to happen #WWERaw
Cody Rhodes Heading For WrestleMania Clash With Roman Reigns?
Cody Rhodes’ tag team run might have resulted in a popular win, but it was always intended to be a side mission before the star got back to the matter at hand — winning the World Championship.
Shortly after his defeat to Roman Reigns at WrestleMania 39, it was reported the pair were heading for a huge rematch 12 months later. Despite this, the match seemed in jeopardy in recent months with Dwayne Johnson seemingly in the running to face Reigns. A match between the real-life cousins has been rumoured for years, and Johnson actually agreed to face Reigns at WrestleMania 39 before plans changed.
However, the most recent report on the potential match noted that there are “no plans” for Johnson and Reigns to meet. This again nudges Rhodes back into pole position.
The report came after Rhodes and Reigns came face to face for the first time in months on SmackDown.
