Cody Rhodes Challenged By CM Punk’s NXT Pizza Giveaway

Cody Rhodes CM Punk on WWE Raw

Cody Rhodes says CM Punk has raised the bar.

On October 1st, NXT premiered on the CW Network with a huge show live from the AllState Arena in Chicago. In the main event, hometown boy CM Punk served as the special guest referee as Trick Williams defeated Ethan Page to regain the NXT Championship.

After the match, Punk dropped Page with a Go 2 Sleep of his own before telling the fans in attendance to grab some free pizza on their way out courtesy of himself and the new champion.

During an appearance on The Pat McAfee Show, WWE’s ultimate babyface Cody Rhodes was asked about being an old-school guy and his own determination to send fans home happy.

“I don’t know if it’s really popular to be old-school anymore, but I feel very much, I have to be old-school. I was raised in the business. My dad never smartened me up to anything. I just watched it, half-ass kind of figured out what was going on.

Things like you’re talking about, Rhea Ripley does those things as well, Damian Priest, they’re also people who like to engage because when the lights go down and the cameras are off, it’s just as important what we do then versus when we’re on, in the moment,”

Rhodes went on to say that in his mind, interacting with fans after the show should be a mandatory requirement, adding that Punk had eclipsed him by buying the crowd pizza.

“You’re talking about this record business the WWE is doing. I’ve watched it because I grew up in it. It goes up, and it comes down, it goes up, and I know where I’d like to get the WWE at. I know WWE is expanding, I know our marching orders, so that stuff we do at the end of the night is, it really should be mandatory.

For me, it feels like it’s part of it because it’s a way to reach across, connect with people and have that real moment with them. Let them know so, ‘I’m your guy, I’m your girl, whatever. WWE has a really good thing when it comes to the live events, live TVs, about just making sure that everybody leaves extremely happy.

Prime example, CM Punk really outdid me in the gifts department, he bought pizza for all of Allstate Arena last night. I can’t imagine the pizza bill. That’s a babyface, and it should challenge everybody else, myself included…That was a very nice gesture of CM Punk to do so. He set the bar high,”

Cody Rhodes Drops Huge WWE Bad Blood Tease

During the same interview, Cody Rhodes said there will be a video package or a vignette coming at Bad Blood with “big title implications.” The American Nightmare said the video will set up his challenger for Crown Jewel on November 2nd in Saudi Arabia.

There was also an exchange between Rhodes and McAfee after the show where the announcer suggested the “big guy” would return on October 5th.

At Bad Blood, Rhodes will team with Roman Reigns to take on Solo Sikoa and Jacob Fatu of The Bloodline. The match will be Reigns’ first since losing to Rhodes at WrestleMania 40.
