Cody Rhodes Called Out By NJPW Star
Cody Rhodes has been called out by NJPW star Gabe Kidd.
The reigning Undisputed WWE Champion has taken on all comers since capturing the title from Roman Reigns at WrestleMania 40, with the likes of Logan Paul, AJ Styles, Shinsuke Nakamura and Solo Sikoa all making unsuccessful attempts to prise the title from the grasp of ‘The American Nightmare’.
Rhodes has proven to be a Superstar who will not shy away from a challenge, but that may be put to the test after he was called out by NJPW STRONG Openweight Champion, Gabe Kidd.
The British-born 27 year-old star took to social media on 30th November to issue to slam both Randy Orton and MJF before issuing a stirring challenge to Cody Rhodes, even naming the venue in which the potentially huge bout could take place:
“I’M PAST THE POINT OF CARING WHAT THESE MAN WHO’VE BEEN CHILLING IN THIS GAME FOR 20+ YEARS THINK. @CodyRhodes I’VE BEAT YOU. CLEAN. IF YOU A REAL CHAMP, COME TO THE TOKYO DOME AND DEFEND THAT WWE TITLE AGAINST ME. WHAT YOU GOT TO LOSE, P***Y. LET’S CHANGE THE GAME.”
Gabe Kidd is already set for another high profile upcoming bout when he squares off against AEW star Kenny Omega at Wrestle Dynasty 2025. The event is set to be held in the Tokyo Dome on 5th January and marks Omega’s return to the squared circle after a 13-month absence.
A number of huge matches have already been signed for the show including Shingo Takagi defending the NEVER Openweight Championship against Konosuke Takeshita and Tomohiro Ishii and Zack Sabre Jr meeting Ricochet.
Cody Rhodes Set For Huge Bout With Kevin Owens
Whilst he did not feature on the card at Survivor Series, Cody Rhodes’ next challenge for the Undisputed WWE Championship has been revealed.
‘The American Nightmare’ has embarked upon an explosive rivalry with Kevin Owens in recent weeks and is set to defend his title against the Canadian Superstar when Saturday Night’s Main Event returns on 14th December.
The popular show first aired in 1985 and featured a number of key moments in company history before coming off air in late 1992. It returned in 2006 but was once again retired in 2008 after proving to be a ratings flop.
