Cody Rhodes Calls For Brock Lesnar To Come Back To Work

Cody Rhodes would love to see Brock Lesnar come back to WWE so they can continue their rivalry.

It’s been an emotional three months for Cody Rhodes post-WrestleMania 39. Cody wasn’t able to beat the Undisputed WWE Universal Champion Roman Reigns that night due to interference from Solo Sikoa. Since then, Cody has had to deal with Brock Lesnar, who turned on Cody and attacked him on the Raw after WrestleMania.

In Cody’s first match against Brock Lesnar at Backlash in Puerto Rico, he picked up the win by countering a Kimura Lock into a pinfall.

At WWE Night Champions in Saudi Arabia three weeks later, Brock Lesnar got his win back after he “broke” Cody’s left arm/wrist going into the match. It was just a storyline to weaken Cody ahead of their showdown. Lesnar won with a Kimura Lock while Cody passed out because he refused to quit.

While Cody wanted to face Lesnar again, The Beast Incarnate was given the month off. That led to Cody Rhodes feuding with Dominik Mysterio, who Cody beat rather handily at Money in the Bank.

During an interview with Ariel Helwani of BT Sport, Cody Rhodes was asked about what’s next for the American Nightmare and that led to Cody calling for another match with Lesnar.

“I would love it, absolutely love it if Brock Lesnar would come back to work. I’d absolutely love it. I don’t think he’s going to though. Initially, we said hey, I’ll be in every city right? I gave him my dates, right. I’m about to post those dates again for July. I give them every date. I think Brock’s annual hiatus might be who knows?”

“And I’m not saying Brock is afraid of me because I really don’t think Brock is afraid of anybody, he’s Brock Lesnar, but Brock may not want to get back into this. He defeated me at Night of Champions. A lot of people would like to go out on a whim and go out on a high. That may be it for Brock, but I’d love it if Brock came back because to me it’s so weird to leave it at one on one.

“We’ll see if not Brock, that’s a more interesting question. What happens and who’s next and what’s next?”

Cody Rhodes obviously is aware of the plan to have the third Lesnar match at SummerSlam on August 5th, which we reported on several weeks ago. It may be a Bullrope Match or some other unique stipulation match.

In addition to that, Brock Lesnar is currently advertised for WWE Monday Night Raw on July 3rd (this Monday), July 17th, and July 31st on the road to SummerSlam. Those plans could change, but Lesnar does appear in the advertising on WWE’s website for Monday’s Raw.
