Cody Rhodes Names AEW Star As Surprise Dream Opponent
Cody Rhodes might have made his famous list once upon a time but now the WWE Champion has named an unlikely AEW star as his dream opponent.
When Cody Rhodes left WWE in 2016, he made a list of opponents he wanted to check off on his quest to rebuild his career on the independent scene. As history shows, that soon snowballed into a run as ROH World Champion, NWA World Heavyweight Champion, the biggest independent show in the US in decades and the formation of AEW.
Rhodes might have been an EVP in that company but he left it all behind to rejoin WWE in 2022 and has since achieved his ultimate goal of becoming WWE Champion at WrestleMania 40.
But it seems if things had happened in another time and place, Cody Rhodes would have loved to mix it up in the ring with one man he came very close to in AEW.
Cody Rhodes Wants To Mess With The Snake
Speaking on BBC Newsround, Cody Rhodes named WWE Hall of Famer and current AEW star Jake Roberts as his dream opponent:
Hmm, I’d probably say I’d like to wrestle – this is perhaps a random one – Jake Roberts. Jake The Snake.
Just because he had a really kind of unique psychology to how we do this in front of an audience, and I’d like to learn in addition to [fighting] him at the same time.

Cody Rhodes might not be able to learn from Roberts in the ring but one group is benefitting from years of Jake Robert’s experience following a talent trade in AEW.
