AEW Legend Supports Cody Rhodes Finishing His Story

An AEW legend who knows Cody Rhodes supports the idea of Cody finishing his story at WrestleMania 40.

When Cody Rhodes worked for All Elite Wrestling from 2019 until his departure in early 2022, he often appeared with a “coach” Arn Anderson. While Anderson works behind the scenes in AEW, he appeared regularly with Cody at ringside and sometimes even got physical during matches as well.

There is a closeness between Cody Rhodes and Arn Anderson, who knew Cody since he was a child due to Arn’s close friendship with the late, great Dusty Rhodes. They also worked together a lot in WWE when Cody was a young guy on the rise while Anderson was a Producer in the company.

Cody Rhodes won the 2024 Royal Rumble for the second year in a row. While he was a bit hesitant at first, Cody Rhodes declared that he was using his Rumble win to challenge Roman Reigns for the Undisputed WWE Universal Championship at WrestleMania 40 on April 6th or April 7th.

While speaking on his ARN podcast, Anderson made it clear that he wants to see Cody Rhodes finish his story by becoming the WWE Champion at WrestleMania 40.

“I certainly hope so. That’s all I can say beyond reproach, is I certainly hope so.”

Arn Anderson Pitches Cody Rhodes Take Part In 4-Way Match At WrestleMania 40

As he continued, Arn Anderson suggested a fatal four-way match at WrestleMania between Roman Reigns, World Heavyweight Champion Seth Rollins, Cody Rhodes and The Rock.

“Well, I’ll bounce one off of you. If you want to make it interesting, Fatal 4-Way. Winner Take All. Consolidate the two titles. I go back to the Fatal 4-Way. Now you have that consolidation, the winner consolidates the championships and you only have one.”

“Each time, if you have that going in, think about this and build in the match. Every time Roman gets covered by somebody. There’s a mad scramble to make a save. Every time Seth gets covered by somebody, there’s a mad scramble to make a save so they’re having to save each other because they can lose their championship without losing the fall.

“I mean, that’s one you could go 30 minutes. I mean, again, that’s just a thought but it shouldn’t be anything backhanded or off the wall when Cody.”

Anderson continued by saying that if Cody does win at WrestleMania then it needs to be clean with his finishing move.

“If he’s going to fulfill his dream, he needs to do it with his finish, 1-2-3, and if I’m the other guy that gets beat, I want to get beat, not by a roll-up with a handful of tights. I want to get beat by your best stuff. What is your best move? That’s what you’re going to beat me with. Not something, crossbody, roll through, handful of tights. That don’t work. I want to see it and know that’s it. I want to hear, ‘1-2-3,’ new champion.”

While it may be considered an interesting idea, it doesn’t appear as if WWE is going to go that route.
