Cody Rhodes Addresses Political Affiliation

Cody Rhodes has responded to claims he’s a Republican.

On January 6, 2020, Cody Rhodes shared a gif of himself getting hyped up with the caption “January 6th, Bring it.” This just so happened to be on the same day that more than 1000 people stormed the Capitol building in Washington D.C. in response to Donald Trump losing out in the U.S. presidential election.

The timing of Rhodes’ message sparked speculation that he was not only a Republican, but supportive of the mob storming the capitol.

During an appearance on Bert Kreischer’s ‘Bertcast’ Rhodes addressed the controversy, and again insisted that his post had nothing to do with Donald Trump. Rhodes added that his family is “super moderate” and “liberal,” before describing his own stance as “moderate.”

“So the Capitol riots were January 6th, right?… Go-Big Show, we debuted the second season on January 6th, and it lives in infamy, especially because I’m…

I try not to be on socials as much but I still can get pretty gotten-to about a moment here and there. But I put a GIF of me in-ring, going like this, ‘Come on!!’ And all I wrote was ‘January 6th,’ and it’s me doing that… Because not enough people watch Go-Big Show.

I can’t explain to them, no! No! It was a show that we were doing and it really checks the box because there’s a group of people that’s just insisting on, ‘That guy’s clearly a Republican. He’s had a Trump hat before, he has a neck tat. He’s from Georgia. He’s clearly –’ whereas my family is super moderate, fairly a lifetime liberal family. We’ve been all over the map, sure.

But, those people, there’s no way I’m convincing them. I mean, it’s the U.S. flag on the side of my neck. It would be a waste of my time to try and like, hey, well, I think a little differently than you’d perhaps perceive but okay… I’m very moderate, so that means I have no voice. Like, no voice.”

Cody Rhodes Believes WWE Is “Non-Partisan”

During an interview in July, Cody Rhodes defended WWE’s presence in Saudi Arabia, suggesting that the company is all about bringing people together. He went on to claim that WWE is a “non-partisan brand” and not aligned with any political party or ideology.

At the time, WWE had announced that the 2026 Royal Rumble would take place in Saudi Arabia, and it’s since been confirmed that WrestleMania will follow in 2027.

Despite the claims from Rhodes’ WWE and Chief Content Officer Triple H have close, and very public ties to the United States government.
