Cody Rhodes’ Actions Vs. Randy Orton Questioned Amid Heel Turn Rumors
Cody Rhodes defeated Randy Orton in the King of the Ring finals and now holds the chance to challenge for the Undisputed WWE Championship at SummerSlam 2025.
During the match, The American Nightmare dominated for quite a while, especially since The Viper seemed to have hurt his lower back after a Superplex off the ropes.
King Cody used that against him throughout by attacking his lower back, and even threw him into an exposed turnbuckle. This has raised an interesting question.
Cody Rhodes has hinted at his heel turn
Despite saying that his character will be babyface for a while now, it seems that the former Undisputed WWE Champion has had a change of heart.
Cody Rhodes and Randy Orton are supposed to be friends, and as a wrestler, The American Nightmare knows the type of damage an exposed turnbuckle can do. However, he still chose to throw The Viper into it and gain a significant advantage over him.
During Night of Champions recap, Megan Morant questioned The American Nightmare’s actions, considering he did not use the title on John Cena during WrestleMania 41. While Sam Roberts pointed out that not using the title did cost Rhodes the championship, and if the argument stands, it’s possible he learnt a lesson from WrestleMania 41.
Cody Rhodes was too good of a guy to use the championship against John Cena at WrestleMania. This is John Cena. This is the man who is trying to ruin wrestling. This is the man who, six weeks before WrestleMania delivered a low blow on Cody, standing over him with The Rock, and he is okay with backing out and not using the title on him, but when it comes to his friend Randy Orton, just throw him into an exposed turnbuckle.
Sam Roberts disagreed and noted that it was Randy Orton who exposed the turnbuckle and was trying to use it on Rhodes, and The American Nightmare simply reversed the move.
Cody Rhodes turning heel ahead of SummerSlam and challenging John Cena can end with The Champ losing the title, and beginning his redemption, and finally becoming babyface before retiring.
